How to take better care of your candle

Our candles are crafted with 100% soy wax, a versatile substance naturally made from soy bean oil. Soy wax burns cleaner and produces no petro-carbon soot, a harmful chemical produced when cheaper traditional paraffin wax candles are burnt.

Soy wax candles are thus the preferred choice for people looking to enjoy candles but wishing to prevent soot from staining their walls and furniture.

When burning your candle for the first time, it is important to know that soy wax has "wax melt memory". To take full advantage of this unique quality, it is recommended that your candle's first burn is for a minimum of one (1) hour. This will ensure even burning throughout the jar, which results in maximum scent throw (the strength of fragrance that the candle releases).

We recommend:

  • Burning your candle for two to three (2 to 3) hours each time to have even burning.

  • Not burning your candles for more than three (3) consecutive hours.

  • Trimming your wood wick to 1/4" - 1/8" (inch) from the surface of the wax before every re-light. This prevents uneven burning, dripping or flaring.

  • Removing any carbon build-up on the tip with a tissue, to allow the flame to be controlled and burn more evenly.

  • Keeping the pool of wax free of wick trimmings or any debris at all times to prevent discolouration of the wax.

Once your candle wick burns to the bottom of the jar and has cooled down, but has not completely solidified (for easier and quicker removal), you can reuse our jar by removing the base of the wick, wiping away leftover wax with a paper towel, then washing the jar with warm water and soap.

  • Do not leave your burning candle unattended and keep it away from places that might catch fire easily.

  • Do not burn your candle all the way down to the bottom. This may cause the glass container to shatter or break from becoming too hot, possibly causing burns or fires from spilled wax.

  • If your candle is burning, please do not move it around.

  • After extinguishing your candle, allow the candle to solidify before moving it around, to prevent burns or damages caused by spilled melted wax.

  • Avoid using water to extinguish a candle flame. Cover the flame with a lid to cut out the oxygen instead.
